Simple Hipster

Yesterday a friend and I went to Newtown to eat and shop, but ended up just eating, A LOT! Newtown is a suburb in the inner-west of Sydney famous for it's too cool for school, effortlessly hipster culture and ambience. Plus its great for vintage clothes and has an endless variety of restaurants. Hence, I was inspired to embrace my inner hipster and put together an outfit that was appropriate for the occasion.

I decided not to wear any make up today, which I was quite nervous about doing, showing my bare face in these photos. But I'm happy with the way they turned out, which is good enough for me.
I love a good crop top, they're such a fun piece to wear. I couldn't decide if I wanted to let the ends loose or to tuck them into my skirt. Admittedly it looked better tucked in, so I eventually slipped the top into my shirt. Unfortunately this mean that I couldn't be a little cheeky and show off some skin, haha. Picking a single-coloured top, whose colour can be found in the print of another item you are wearing, always looks nice. The Aqua seen in my top can also be identified on the petals in my skirt, making the green on my skirt pop out more.
MinkPink is one of my favourite brands. They infamously make clothes that have a vintage/hipster flare. Admittedly their clothes are not on the cheap side, but when ever purchasing a MinkPink item, I always buy it on sale. Brand aside, high waisted skirts are always fashionable and you can never go wrong with a pretty print. In the winter you can easily slip on a pair of stockings, making the outfit wearable, whilst keeping yourself warm.
If you've read any of my other posts you will know that I can't praise converses enough. They're my favourite shoes in the entire world, because they're comfortable and they go with anything. Which is why they are blessing and are worth every single penny. Plus they come in a variety of shapes, colours and sizes and are timeless!!
I'm not a HUGE jewellery fan at all. I love to keep it simple, sticking to rings, brackets and studs.
I'm currently suffering the colder stages of the Australian year, so it would be impractical to strut around town in a short skirt and a crop top. But that won't stop me form wearing pieces in my closet that I love. Cardigans are an item that has been created by the fashion fairies, blessing us with the opportunity to show off our outfit while keeping warm.

Below are some pictures of the droolworthy meals I had in Newtown, as you can see I'm wearing this outfit, with an American Apparel long-sleeved crop-top underneath to keep myself warm. I featured that crop-top in my 'Summer statement pieces for Winter weather' post, so check it out if you'd like to see it.
